Burnet, Texas— Dan Shipley died at his home, December 19. He had lived to be 82. His life was a remarkable one— a quarterback for SMU, a pilot who flew a P-51 so low above the desert floor that cactus fragments stuck in its cowling. He served in the Korea War, flying over 100 missions, earning multiple medals of honor, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. Most of all, he served God, having preached since the mid 60’s. He loved people and never met a stranger. Dan was a man who had a smile on his face for everyone. He was a personal friend. On the behalf of his family and his wife Wilma, we ask for your prayers.
