Giving to God—
Sharing for the cause of righteousness
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” —Matthew 22: 37
[2col1]THE MORE I study God’s word, the more I realize it’s all about your heart. God wants our hearts—
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. —Romans 10:10
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. —Matthew 22:37
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently. —1 Peter 1:22
And if everything we do is because God has our hearts, because we love Him so much and we want to please Him in everything we do, then this too becomes an act of worship, pleasing to our God.
[endcol] [2col2]We give because we love God, we trust in God, we have given our whole heart to God.
If our focus is God, then it becomes easier to see this contribution not as something that I’m commanded to do, but something I do because I love God. It stops becoming something I have to do, and becomes something I want to do.
I think that is what Paul meant when he said,
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. —2 Corinthians 9:7
